Facebook getting ‘Quiet Mode’ option to turn off push notifications.

Facebook launch a “Quiet Mode” option for its app to turn off all push notifications. According to the company, the feature “Quiet Mode” will remind users that they set this time aside to limit your time in the app.

Facebook launch this feature at a time when most of the people are staying at the home for maintaining the social distance to curb the spread of novel coronavirus. The main aim of Facebook behind launching this app is to bring the right balance while using the app. The feature is now available only for iOS user but the iPhone user in India is yet to receive the update for this new feature. Most probably the Android user will get “Quiet Mode” in May.

However, Facebook has not clearly explained the “Quiet Mode” feature and what type of push notification they are going to turn off. According to the Verge media report, Quiet Mode can be manually activated/deactivated in addition to bringing scheduled. The few claims were made related to the “Quiet Mode” feature is that if the user will try to open the Facebook app while activating the mode, a message will appear reminding them about the mode. It is also claimed that users will not get to see the badges that frequently appear over the Facebook Watch icon inside the app.

When Scanning gets completed, you can see the ‘Scan Results’ area. The first page lists ‘PUPs and Adware’. If you have any on your PC, tick all the checkboxes and click on ‘Quarantine’ and then click on continue. After the cleaning process is complete you have to restart the computer.

Managing your Chrome extensions is not so big deal as there is a fairly straightforward menu for this in Chrome browser, but you can make it even quicker and easier by adding a button to the toolbar.

Install and Add Chrome Extension.

Before going through these settings let us learn how to install and add an extension to your Chrome browser. Open your Chrome browser and open the Chrome Web Store. Now search for the extension you want to add.

Select the Extension and click ‘Add to Chrome’. Some of the extensions required certain permissions or data, check it before and click 'add extension'.

Note: You cannot add extensions when you are browsing in Incognito mode.     

Manage Google Chrome Extensions.

To manage all your Chrome browser by using the default menu or you can add a button to the toolbar which is a quicker and easier way to manage Chrome Extensions.

Open chrome://flags, enable 'Extensions Toolbar Menu' and relaunch Chrome.

The new toolbar icon looks like a jigsaw piece and opens a new menu when you click it. From here you can enable or disable extensions and go to the extensions manager.

The Extensions Toolbar Menu button lists every extension that’s enabled in your browser, and clicking the three dots beside each one opens a menu for that extension. One option lets you unpin the extension from the toolbar.

This removes the toolbar icon but leaves the extension running, so it’s a good way to clean up the browser interface if it starts getting cluttered.

The new menu also running but hidden, and you can add their icon to the toolbar. It’s a good way to find out if you have any hidden extensions running in your browser.

Before going through the settings, make sure that you are on the latest version of your Chrome browser version 80. Click on the three dots in the upper right corner to open the Chrome menu, move to ‘Help’ in the menu, and click on ‘About Google Chrome.

Enable Google Chrome Reader Mode.

Once the update is finished, Go to chrome://flags/#enable-reader-mode and look for Enable Reader Mode.

It’s disabled by default, open the drop-down menu and select the ‘Enable’ option, and relaunch Chrome. After relaunching Chrome, it will add a ‘Toggle Distilled page contents’ option to the menu.

When you want to read an article on the web, open Chrome’s menu and click ‘Toggle Distilled page contents’ to strip out everything except the text and images. This only works on articles, not home pages forum pages, and so on.
